Do you want to soon emigrate to Denmark and are you a bit anxious about this because of corona? Then it is of course very logical that you want to know what the current situation of the corona pandemic is in Denmark. COVID19 has messed up the plans of many people to move abroad. Let's be honest. Nobody had taken this into account, right?
An international move is of course already a big step, so let alone emigrating in times of corona. Especially when corona first appeared, everything in the world was rather uncertain and unclear. However, fortunately, nowadays it is the case that if you are well prepared and you are aware of the current information in Denmark, you can simply continue your move without any problems. Please note that the recent information that you have in your hands does relate to Denmark and is not general information from the internet. Of course, every country has its own approach, rules and measures. For example, do you read something about the United Kingdom? Then this of course has nothing to do with Denmark and will only cause a lot of confusion. And of course you don't want that!
Why do people actually move to Denmark?
Denmark has become increasingly popular among young people and young families in recent years. Many people who prefer to seek safety and social security therefore decide to move to Denmark. The country has a lot to offer in this area. Denmark is also a member state of the European Union (EU). This makes the step to emigrate a lot smaller than if you choose to emigrate to Curaçao, for example.
Denmark and COVID19
As you may have read before, all countries deal with corona in their own way, and so does Denmark. In this article we will explain this, but we will also talk about the current rules and measures in the country. Foreign Affairs also has a lot of information about this on their website.
The latest update of the corona figures in Denmark
This week the average number of people who tested positive was 34,849. Just like we can see in the rest of Europe and actually in the rest of the world, the number of infected people is very high. Every day records are broken in terms of the number of infections. It is true that the Omikron variant is a lot less dangerous according to many countries, which means that the pressure on healthcare does not increase.
Vaccination rates in Denmark
Denmark has almost 6 million inhabitants. Of these inhabitants, 83.1% have had their first vaccination. And there are 81.2% fully vaccinated people in the country. Also, 61.6% of these vaccinated people have received the booster shot.
Current information
We can bring you some very good news, because from 1 February 2022 all corona measures in Denmark will be lifted. So you no longer need a QR code to visit public places, such as restaurants and museums. However, there are still entry restrictions for foreign travellers.
How can you enter Denmark?
When you travel to Denmark, you still need to take into account a number of rules and measures. Travelers from the EU and Schengen countries are allowed to travel to Denmark provided they have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days ago. You can also still show proof of recovery. However, this must be able to show that you have recovered from corona no more than 6 months ago.
Children under the age of 17 and those traveling with fully vaccinated people or people with a negative test result do not need to be tested further.
Are you unvaccinated?
If you are unvaccinated, you can enter Denmark, but you must be able to show a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before. This may also be a negative antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before.
Are you fully vaccinated? This means that you must have had 2 vaccinations or 1 vaccination from Janssen. Then you do not need to be tested before departure.
Do you have a proof of recovery that is no more than 6 months old? Then you do not need a negative test.
Test certificates
Are you traveling to Denmark by car? Then it is good to know that no Dutch test certificates are accepted at the German/Danish border. The certificate must be written in Scandinavian language, German, English, French, Italian or Spanish. Your name, time of test and the issuer must also be clearly stated on the certificate. The Danish police may refuse travelers who do not meet these requirements.
Digital Covid Certificate
The validity of your 'Digital Covid Certificate' (DCC) in Denmark is a maximum of 5 months. This means that your certificate is valid for a maximum of 5 months after your 1st vaccination. For people who have a recovery certificate, the certificate is only valid on the 11th day after a positive PCR test.
Travelers who have already had a booster shot do not yet have an expiry date for their certificate.
The CoronaCheck app
You can use the Dutch CoronaCheck app to travel to Denmark. This QR code is valid in all EU and Schengen countries. You can also print out your certificate to be sure. This way you ensure that all your documents are in order.
An international move to Denmark
Moving within the Netherlands naturally requires a lot of effort from you, so let alone when you have an international move coming up! With an international move, you have to make sure that everything is well arranged. Especially now during corona, because can you still 'normally' move to another country? Are there also measures for this? Do you still have to register the moving of your belongings somewhere? As you can see, moving abroad currently involves extra work. This also applies to international moving companies. Therefore, choose a good moving company with the necessary experience so that your belongings will be delivered safely and soundly to Denmark.
The costs of moving to Denmark
Removals to other countries are of course a bit more expensive than removals within the Netherlands. This of course has to do with fuel costs, removal men who have to stay abroad overnight and the transport of your belongings should of course not be forgotten. For example, do you have a large household? Do you live in a large house? Are multiple or larger removal vans needed? Is your home easily accessible with a removal van? As you can see, there are many factors that such a removal company must take into account when calculating the price for a removal. Furthermore, they must of course also take your personal wishes into account. For example, do you want to hire additional services? Think of a packing/unpacking service or do you perhaps need additional staff? All these things and more can ensure that your removal can be more expensive or even cheaper.
To get an exact price calculation, it is best to contact several moving companies. We say several, because the prices can differ quite a bit between moving companies.
