Aad and Peter have been married for 15 years and have been on holiday to the South of France since they met. They not only fell in love with each other even more, but also with the beautiful country. At the beginning of 2021, despite Corona, they decided to move to La Rochelle. Of course, this was quite an undertaking and they had to hire a company to help them move. After arranging all the paperwork themselves, they were able to find a moving company through Moova that helped them with their move. This made their move less chaotic than expected.

Difference in cultures

As Aad puts it so well: ''Such an emigration makes you very aware of the (d)effects of your own culture. On holiday you also get to know a country, but when you live there you will notice the difference very quickly.'' According to Peter this is mainly due to the homesickness that you experience after you have literally left your entire life behind. According to Peter, the best thing you can do then is to immediately start with the right steps and hand over everything you can. This way you can focus on other things during the move than, for example, the furniture.

A bed & breakfast on the way?

Furthermore, they are also very happy with the large kitchen in their new big house. It is located in a beautiful area full of nature. The extra space they now have is really wonderful. In the Netherlands they lived in the center of Rotterdam and their apartment was a lot smaller. With the friends they have built up a good relationship with in France in recent years, they can cook and dine together at their beautiful kitchen island. They have so much space in the house that they are now doubting whether to start a bed & breakfast. Although, as Aad says: ''We left for the peace and quiet and starting a bed & breakfast does not bring us any peace of mind.'' So this idea is on the back burner for a while. In the near future it is a deep-rooted dream that Aad and Peter want to realize. To be continued..
